Antonius Hofmann, actually Anton Josef Hofmann (* October 4, 1909 in Rinchnach; † March 11, 2000 in Passau) was the 82nd Bishop of Passau from 1968 to 1984. His motto was “Minister in medio vestrum” (Servant in your midst).

The monastery church of the former provostry of Rinchnach (today the parish church of St. John the Baptist) in the Bavarian Forest is the oldest settlement in the region, founded in 1011 by the Benedictine monk St. Gunther. The impressive complex combines Gothic basic structures with magnificent Baroque.
