Absolutely worth seeing and with great interior design; outside with Renaissance portal.
Dignified furnishings and also worth seeing from the outside. As in almost every church here; beautiful carved wooden ceiling in Canarian style.
A look inside the church is definitely worth it.

The three-aisled "Iglesia Matriz de El Salvador" is located on the Plaza de España in the historic center of the island's capital, Santa Cruz de la Palma. The original church building from the 15th century was expanded several times. Despite the other recognizable styles, the church is considered the largest Renaissance building in the entire Canary Islands. The main portal made of basalt was built in 1553. The fortress-like construction of the bell tower is striking. The artistically painted Mudejar wood carvings on the coffered ceiling, the Gothic cross vault in the vestibule of the sacristy, the picture on the main altar, the tabernacle and the sculptures by Fernando Estévez in the nave are of historical importance. On the gallery there is a large Hamburg organ from 1823.

The building was almost completely destroyed by French pirates as early as 1553. It was rebuilt in several phases over the next few centuries. The most impressive feature is its heavy, solid wooden entrance portal. The church also has a unique wooden ceiling designed in the Mudéjar style, which is considered one of the most beautiful in the Canary Islands.
