Already in the 12th century, the old Irxleber church was built in Romanesque style. It had a pitched roof with a 20-meter-high tower, on whose top was a weathercock with St. Eustace. He is still patron saint of the church today. Because of the strong increase in population was expanded under superintendent Heinrich-Julius Raabe, the church in 1892/93 and renewed the spire. The transition from the old hull of the tower to the new spire is still clearly visible today. In the church there are colored stained glass windows.

The church has a baptismal font about the same age as the church itself. He has a diameter of over one meter and a hemispherical, bowl-like depression. Since the Thirty Years' War, the old baptismal font is no longer used. Today, a baptismal font made of wood is used for baptism.
