The prince-bishop's palace in Münster is a residential palace built in the style of the baroque from 1767 to 1787 for Münster's penultimate prince-bishop Maximilian Friedrich von Königsegg-Rothenfels. The architect was Johann Conrad Schlaun. Schlaun designed the castle in the basic form of a high baroque residence. Since 1954 it is the seat and landmark of the Westphalian Wilhelms University. The castle is built from typical Munster Baumberger sandstone.
