The Swan River winds through Perth and is one of the city’s defining natural features, shaping much of its landscape before reaching the Indian Ocean at Fremantle. The river supports abundant birdlife and offers plenty of recreational activities, including boating, kayaking, and fishing, while its foreshore is a popular destination for walking and cycling. Along this stretch, the river curves around the Maylands Peninsula, giving the circuit much of its open feel with expansive water views for most of the walk.
