The mill
The mill rattles by the rushing brook. True to this motto, the Lorenz family, formerly Paul Müller, have been running the Weitersbacher Mühle am Idarbach for over 130 years. Ulrich Lorenz grows the wheat, rye and spelled to be ground himself in Weitersbach and Mengigart according to SooNahe guidelines. The large red brick mill building immediately catches the eye when you come from the country road. If you want to visit the charming farm shop, you have to go through the mill. Behind large and small sacks of flour on one side and machines on the other, you will find the friendly shopping paradise. The oldest machine dates from 1942, when the mill, which was bombed out during the war, started operating again. Since the reconstruction, an Ossberg water turbine has been driving the mill. A motor only helps when the stream has too little water. Well-established tradition meets modern life here.
