Located on the rugged plateau above the fishing village, this former school (1897) forms a striking historical landmark in the landscape. From this spot, situated slightly inland, you have a beautiful overview of the surrounding blanket bog and the approaching descent to the spectacular cliffs of Porturlin. The lonely school building is a reminder of the remoteness of this community, where generations were educated amidst the wild nature of North Mayo.
