Elongated strips of peat on the Atlantic raised bog, where the dark blocks lie drying in the wind. This landscape shows the centuries-old tradition of peat extraction in Mayo: families cut peat in the spring and brought it in in the autumn as fuel. A silent reminder of life on the bog, surrounded by heather, water, and the distant contours of Nephin Beg.
