The Counts Trapp von Matsch originally came from Styria, but settled in Tyrol and also had property in South Tyrol. The title "von Matsch" was awarded there. In Innsbruck, the palace was the central meeting point for the nobility. The Palais Trapp is at Maria-Theresien-Straße 38. It is also called "Wolkenburg". The Wolkenburg was built in 1625 by Berchtold Freiherrn von Wolkenstein. Later, around 1700, the large building was converted into a baroque palace by the master builders Gumpp.
