In the middle of the village of Kilbaha, you will find this impressive anchor, a tribute to the Morven, a 2,000-ton four-masted ship that ran aground here in December 1906. The ship was almost at its destination after a 160-day journey from Oregon when a sudden gust of wind drove it against the rocks of Horse Island. Miraculously, the entire crew, including the captain's wife, survived the shipwreck. This anchor is a powerful symbol of the dangerous waters around Loop Head and the resilience of the local coastal community.
