Ship Harbour Long Lake Wilderness Area is the largest protected area in the Halifax Regional Municipality, protecting more than 16,500 hectares of rugged woodlands, lakes, and waterways across the Eastern Shore interior. Together with the adjacent White Lake and Tangier Grand Lake Wilderness Areas, it forms a connected network of protected lands larger than Kejimkujik National Park, supporting brook trout, endangered mainland moose, and the globally endangered boreal felt lichen. It's a great destination for hiking, canoeing, and angling, with paddling routes that wind through a stunning network of lakes and waterways all the way to the Atlantic coast.
