The Dooneen Scenic Viewpoint is located near the Beara Bowl, just off the turn-off. It is not far from Allihies and also close to an old copper mine that was abandoned in the late 1870s. From here, you have views of the vast coastline in front and the mountains behind. You also look directly into a cove. A ballad, 'The Cliffs of Dooneen', sung by a famous Irish singer, is apparently not about this Dooneen, but is nevertheless worth listening to.
