The tree-lined spring, at 17 meters wide, is only about half as wide as the Kainspring, but at 23.5 meters deep, almost twice as deep. The Melchiorbrunnen (Melchior Spring) discharges 20 liters per second. The spring's bed consists of meter-deep limestone mud, through which the karst water pushes, causing it to bubble.
