The church of St. Sylvester in Unterfarnstädt is eye-catching with its tower and roof. The church, built in the middle of the 19th century between 1840 and 1844 in the Tudor style of English cathedral Gothic, is almost unique in Saxony-Anhalt, if not in Germany. According to information from the parish and the active support association, there are only two churches in this style on the European mainland. Since the mid-1980s, the church has hardly been used for worship purposes. Noteworthy are some of the funeral crowns displayed on the south side of the nave, which were used to decorate unmarried deceased people at their burial in the 19th century. The committed support association has been looking after the preservation and renovation since the early 2000s. Currently (summer 2024) the biggest task and wish is to renovate the roof.
