On the other side of the Aa there used to be a motte (52°16'00.6"N 7°42'38.3"E), after this was abandoned, Haus Grone was built at this location. This was in the year 1629. In 1807 the dilapidated house was auctioned off for demolition. The remains are still the walls (partially with loopholes on the north side) preserved. On the other side of the Aa, where the motte also stood in the park, a manor house was newly built.
