Tips

  • Very intriguing bay both because of its history and its location. It is a suitable place for swimming in the sea.

  • Prussia Cove is a small, sheltered inlet with a few cottages above it. The name goes back to the days of wrecking and smuggling when the cove was one of the best spots for landing and storing contraband. It was the headquarters of John Carter (born in 1738), one of Cornwall’s most successful smugglers, who was given the nickname 'King of Prussia' after a childhood game he played with his brothers in which he pretended to be Frederick the Great, the real King of Prussia.

  • Once a smuggler's hideout, this hidden cove is now a wonderful place for a picnic and a swim.
