Gravel riding
The Befreiungshalle on Michelsberg hill in Kelheim is one of Germany's most imposing monuments. It sits majestically above the Danube and is visible from afar. King Ludwig I of Bavaria commissioned the construction to commemorate the victories against Napoleon during the Wars of Liberation (1813–1815). It was a project of national pride intended to celebrate the unity of the German tribes (after the end of the Confederation of the Rhine).
