Gravel riding
The inscription is located at the so-called Teufelsfelsen directly on the Danube (near the B16). Two monumental stone lions stand on high pedestals. Until 1794, the Danube valley was so narrow at this point and blocked by steep rocks that passage for wagons was impossible. The rocks had to be blasted away between 1791 and 1794 under the most difficult conditions to build a fortified road from Saal to Abbach. One of the lions proudly looks towards the Danube, the other contemplates the inscription tablet on the rock.

The lions are reminiscent of the Teufelsfelsen or its blasting, but the Teufelsfelsen itself is still present a few kilometers upstream, albeit smaller, but still very imposing!
