The rocks near Poikam (a district of Bad Abbach) are a real eye-catcher for cyclists on the Danube Cycle Path, especially on the section between Ingolstadt and Regensburg. Geologically, they mark the transition to the Jura rock of the Franconian Jura. The rock formations consist of massive Jurassic limestone. In this area, the Danube valley narrows noticeably, which is why it is also called the "Poikamer Enge" (Poikam Narrows). The light-coloured limestone rocks rise steeply in places directly next to the cycle path and offer a great contrast to the green of the Danube floodplains.
