The Haymans Plantation was established in 1649 at this location, after the English planter Henry Haymans acquired several smaller plantations. A sugar factory was created.
The factory operation was discontinued in 1988 due to the changing situation of the sugar industry in Barbados. The factory machines were dismantled and sold, leaving only an empty shell.
In 2020, the plant was acquired by Sun Group Investments Inc.
Bernard Weatherhead announced that the factory is to be repurposed and transformed into a space that combines living, learning, entertainment, retail shops, and a market attraction for everyone.
