The late baroque manor house was completed in its current form shortly before 1750. The building is one-story, seven-axle and has a red hipped roof. The high granite base, modest decorative elements and the adjacent park wall give it a special charm. Arndt's birthplace now houses the office of the national Ernst Moritz Arndt Society, founded in 1992, which organizes regular readings, a variety of lectures and art exhibitions. The house has long since become one of Rügen's most important meeting places for locals and guests, art and history lovers. Between 1997 and 2003, the Arndt Society carried out the restoration of the house and the adjacent park. The park is an inviting place to linger and take a stroll at any time of year.
