Junagarh Fort and its palaces were built between 1588-1593 by Raja Raj Singh, a general in the army of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The fort has remained unconquered to this day. The fortress has a 96-meter-long wall and inside there are 37 palaces, temples and pavilions. The 37 bastions of the fortress guard it, and only two gates allow access to the interior of the fortress.
