Schweppenburg Castle was first mentioned in 1365. It was remodeled in the Baroque style between 1637 and 1639 under Bertram von Metternich. Since 1716, it has been owned by a branch of the Cologne patrician family von Geyr. The original castle ruins were demolished in 1785. (Source: Wikipedia, summarized)
