One of the many fortifications in the Kinzig and Gutach valleys can be found here. These fortifications were intended to protect the Roman-Germanic Empire from the constant incursions of French troops. However, they apparently proved largely ineffective, despite being built with enormous effort.

The old fortification is the perfect rest stop. An open hut with a barbecue area in the middle. Several benches outside for relaxing. Plus, a fantastic view. What more could a hiker want?
