The trailhead for the Mount Douglas Bald Trail begins from a small parking area near Welsford. Before hiking, you must obtain a recreational access permit from Range Control at Camp Petersville, as the trail lies within the training lands of CFB Gagetown. From the parking area the trail immediately starts climbing uphill into the forest, marking the start of a steady ascent toward the summit.
