Road cycling
The village took its name from Saint Éman, originally from Asia Minor, who is said to have preached in Illiers between 530 and 550. A first sanctuary was established towards the end of the 11th century. The cult of the patron saint, believed to ward off drought, gave rise to an annual procession on May 16th or 23rd.
The building consists of a long nave with a flat apse – approximately 26 meters long and 6 meters wide – preceded by a large porch to the west and a chapel to the south.
