Main Range Naitonal Park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests and a UNECO World Heritage site. The namesake mountain range is thought to be the result of a large shield volcano that erupted between 25 and 22 million years ago. The steep slopes have protected the rainforest from being cleared and as a result many rare and endangered species have found refuge here.
