The Antarctic Beech Forest is a rare kind of rainforest found in the higher elevations of the Scenic Rim. Full of tall, cool-climate Antarctic beech trees (Nothofagus moorei), which have remained mostly unchanged for millions of years, dating back to the Gondwana supercontinent. This thick forest provides plenty of shade and often holds mist.
