An ancient Grand Duke's road, dating back to the 18th century. Built by Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine to connect the Vallombrosa area to Casentino.
This first section, called the Scala Santa, connects the Abbey to Paradisino. Along its route are several chapels, where some of the ancient monks retreated to live as hermits in the Middle Ages.
