Around 1855, Dr. Wilhelm Grimm put a bell tower with a clock and a Turkish half moon on the packing house. Dr. Grimm has had the moon mounted in honor of his Turkish grandmother. He had never seen her, but was very touched by her fate and wanted to prove his affection. Abbas Cachiana Kaefe Rhebisch was probably born in 1722 in the Turkish city Oszakow. The city was completely destroyed in the Russian-Turkish War. The Braunschweig Prince Anton Ulrich fighting on the Russian side took Abbas with him as a spoils of war to Petersburg, where she received instruction and was baptized Anna Charlotte Rhebisch. Later, Prince Anton Ulrich took the Turkish girl to Blankenburg to make available to his grandmother, the Duchess Christine Louise, as a partner. Anna Charlotte had soon won the Duchess' trust. To ensure the future of Anna Charlotte, the Duchess favored her connection with the pastor Christian Moritz Grimm, the grandfather of Doctor Wilhelm Grimm. Unfortunately, the duchess died a few days before the wedding and court intruders prevented the payout of the dowry. Nevertheless, she was married, but the young pastor's wife had to follow her husband destitute into the Harz, where she led a deprived life with nine children. She died in 1766 at the age of 44 years.

The packing house was built in 1796. The large mansion, today's town hall, was built in the heyday of the trading house around 1811.

Around 1855, a bell tower with a clock was added to the packing house. At the top was a crescent moon. The former owner, Dr. med. Wilhelm Grimm, had it installed in honor of his paternal grandmother, a Turkish woman.

The packing house that still exists today was built when the Eyter was still navigable. The upper floors still contain the packing floors and a large, hand-driven winch for the goods. The range of goods was diverse and ranged from linen, yarn and dyes to spices and foodstuffs, horseshoes, violin strings and gunpowder.
