Very nice place in the middle of the forest. There are also a few benches for having a snack and enjoying nature.

The spring catchment of the Egerquelle (not to be confused with the Eger source in Baden-Württemberg) is located on the north-west slope of the Schneeberg, 150 meters west of the WUN 1 Weißenstadt-Bischofsgrün county road; Egerquelle car park. The spring can also be reached on the FGV main hiking trail Quellenweg. For a long time, a simple stone with the inscription "Egerquelle 1850" was sufficient. The current spring catchment from 1923 (inaugurated in 1924) goes back to the initiative of the Bohemian town of Eger. Immediately south of the spring catchment, a rectangular granite block rests on two stone cubes with the inscription: When the boy came to the Eger:
“Eger, tell me, where are you hurrying to?”
“To the Elbe,” it rustles more briskly,
“I must go to the Elbe!”
When the boy came to the Elbe,
the answer was heavy on meaning;
the same one roars back thunderously:
“And I must go to the German sea!”
The slightly modified text comes from the song Podersamer Heimatklänge[2]. A memorial stone for Sudeten German expellees from 1955 stands just a few meters to the side of the spring catchment. The spring area with its deciduous woodland surroundings is a protected natural monument. South of the Weißenhaider Mill, on the northern slope of the Schneeberg, lies the source area of the Alte Eger. The actual course of the Eger, now called Zinnbach, is said to have its origin there. For convenience, the current source was chosen as it is easier to access.
