The food is amazing !!!! Starting with the best apple strudel I've ever tasted, the best goulash ... would move in here just for the food. But the rooms are super nice and the starting point perfect for a Triglav ascent.

Definitely a great location, worth your visit. If this mountain hut is your destination, you don't have to be an alpinist to get here, but still - don't underestimate the hike. Don't even think about it without proper mountain-hiking equipment (I stronly recommend hiking poles, too), and some semblance of physical fitness. Just a short time ago, a group of foreign tourists had to be saved from this very location and air-lifted by Mountain Rescue helicopter back to the valley - due to exhaustion. Slovenian Julian Alps can sometimes seem deceptively easy, and it may take some mountaineering mileage and experience to make correct assessments, but if you have to - try erring on the safe side or be prepared for unfortunate outcomes. Luckily for out-of-shape, Crocks-wearing tourists - mountain rescue in Slovenia is still free of charge.

Great location overlooking Triglav.

There is a well in front of the hut where you can tap drinking water.

Check-in for overnight stays only from 6 p.m. - during our visit we were only allowed to stay inside the hut then. There are only limited shaded areas outside. We didn't think that was ideal.

But the staff was very friendly and the food was good. Breakfast is served here as a buffet.

The shared room we slept in was obviously redone not too long ago and was very comfortable. The washrooms are older, but were clean and tidy.
This cabin also has a shower.
