This wonderful lookout point is the site of an Iron Age hillfort as well as a thriving nature reserve. The summit stands 230 feet (70 m) above the River Itchen and you can access it by steps or a more gradual path. A gorgeous clump of beech trees surround the summit. The hill lies within (although barely) the South Downs National Park and is a well-maintained area of tradition downland. Summer brings rare butterflies, insects and an abundance of birds to the hill. The views of Winchester are exceptional from the northern side.
