A magnificent building with a rather simple façade that catches the eye. The current Teatro Cervantes was built in 1869 on the site of the Teatro del Príncipe Alfonso, which was destroyed by fire. On December 17, 1870, the theater was opened with a performance of Rossini's opera "William Tell." Today, the Teatro Cervantes is home to the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra (Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga) and the Spanish film festival Festival de Málaga de Cine Español is also held here.
