The former manor church was built around 1500 as a simple fieldstone structure with a thatched roof. During the Thirty Years' War, the church had to be rebuilt twice. At its core, it is a medieval church.

The Rogätz Church was built around 1500.
At that time, it was a simple fieldstone building with a thatched roof.
The reformer of Rogätz was apparently the Lutheran pastor Joachim Ulrich,
who took over the parish in Loitsche-Rogätz in 1558.
The Rogätz teacher Willy Schulze reports in his Rogätz village chronicle:
"As Pastor Riemann told me, a letter from Luther (d. 1546) was supposedly kept here in the Rogätz church archives."
Rogätz was smaller than Loitsche and Angern at that time.
It had only 18 farms compared to 35 in Loitsche and 56 in Angern.
Along with the Klutturm tower, our church and its art treasures are the only witnesses of the past that survived the Thirty Years' War.
During this war, the church was rebuilt twice.
After the first destruction of the village (1626-1630), it was re-roofed with a thatched roof.

After the second destruction, in which not a single stone was left standing in the entire village (1638-1649), it was hastily rebuilt in its current form (1649/50).
This building was renovated around 1700, and galleries were added.
In 1743, a storey was added above the altar to accommodate the organ.
In 1767, the nave received its barrel vault.
It was painted in bright blue colors in 1802.
It is a simple, single-nave, plastered building with a massive three-story west tower, with a recessed rectangular choir and sacristy on the south side.
The core is medieval. Romanesque and late Gothic construction periods are documented.
The blocky, squat tower with its mighty lantern-topped spire and elaborate west portal dates from around 1700.
The now walled-up, raised opening in the east wall was the former entrance to an organ loft.
In the 19th century, it served as the entrance to a patron's lodge.
During renovations in 1963, remnants of late Gothic wall paintings from 1480 were discovered. Unfortunately, they have been painted over.
The last renovation took place between 1995 and 1997.

A landmark of Rogätz, the so-called inkwell. The Elbe and the Klutturm are nearby.
