It is one of the oldest buildings in the city, as this church is of late Romanesque order after the establishment of Christianity after the conquest of the city by Ferdinand III the Saint in 1227.
As a curious fact, it is worth noting that in one of the different stages of reconstruction of the building, some paintings or frescoes were found on the walls that had been covered with plaster and mortar of different composition, which were rehabilitated so that they can be seen by visitors.

Large building that was once the headquarters of the old University of Baeza, which from 1538 to 1824 was training the equivalent of higher graduates in our country. It was one of the four universities founded in Andalusia along with Seville, Granada and Osuna in the 16th century.
Furthermore, this building was a worthy witness to the classes of the famous Spanish writer Antonio Machado, who from 1912 to 1919 held the position of French language teacher, having not obtained the desired position in Madrid.

Opposite the Jabalquinto Palace stands the Church of Santa Cruz, one of the few Romanesque churches in all of Andalusia. Built in the 13th century, after the conquest of the Upper Guadalquivir Valley by Ferdinand III, it preserves remnants of 15th and 16th-century frescoes.
