The Strullendorf lock was built between July 1964 and March 1967 as part of the construction of the Main-Danube Canal federal waterway. [4] It is designed as an economy lock with an economy basin southwest of the lock basin. Shortly before the lock, the power station canal branches off to the Hirschaid power station to the west.
