The Church of Altos de Chavón, officially named St. Stanislaus Church (Iglesia San Estanislao de Cracovia), is a central, romantic building in the medieval-looking village. Consecrated in 1979, it is designed in a Mediterranean style with a stone facade and interior – serene, simple, yet very picturesque. ([Wikipedia][1])
The church was named in honor of St. Stanislaus, the patron saint of Poland – a gift from Pope John Paul II, who sent relics and a statue from Kraków. ([Atlantique Sud][2])
