This is probably the first night watchman monument in Germany. The night watchman stands here wearing a fur-trimmed coat and holding a large halberd. A light stands before him, and in his right hand he holds his horn, as if he were about to sound the call to quiet hours.
With a bit of luck, you might actually encounter a night watchman in Rinteln, as there is a guided night watchman tour of the town once a month.
