    Tips

    December 7, 2025

The Kingsmere River is a short, shallow river connecting Waskesiu Lake to Kingsmere Lake. It is the primary corridor for paddlers and hikers heading toward the park’s backcountry. Kingsmere River is narrow, slow-moving, and often too shallow to paddle, with logs, beaver dams, and vegetation, so instead of floating, cannoers and kayakers take the one-kilometer rail portage.
