The heap is one of the highest in the Ruhr area and rises 150 meters above the surrounding area. The wildly developed descents and single trails are sometimes tough and there have already been injuries - so be careful on the first descent! Unfortunately, there are still no official routes, although a non-profit association has been trying to get this done for years. This is why caution is always required, so that there are no unpleasant encounters with pedestrians or other cyclists, especially on weekends when the weather is nice. The view from the top is fantastic as the dump is surrounded by flat land.

The totems of the Halde Haniel draw a large half-bow. From here you have a good view of the amphitheater on the summit plateau and the surrounding area.

Here you are on the highest elevation in Bottrop. 169 above normal zero or 129m above the rest of the environment.
Come up and look into the country. Look at the poles, they are the contrast between industry and nature and yet they are part of both ....

The heap itself is a popular destination in the north of Oberhausen, which in addition to walking, cycling and kite flying also has a crossroads and much artistic to offer. The mainly greened, about 100 m above the adjacent colliery projecting heap but also offers a wonderful view of the mine Prosper -Haniel and the northwestern Ruhr area.
    More at industriekultur-ob.de/halde-haniel
As a starting point for a visit to the Haniel heap, the parking lot offers directly on the colliery ground.

You do not have to worry about driving down the summit. The gravel slows one out. :)

No problem as a mountain biker uphill on the main footpath. Downhill there are enough side routes. If you drive down the main path please drive slowly.
We don't want to be a danger to pedestrians, children or dogs. Otherwise we won't be able to drive there anymore soon.

    RESPECT FOR EVERYONE AND EVERYONE

The Halde Haniel in Bottrop is with 159 m height one of the highest heaps of the Ruhr area. It was piled up in the form of two spirals through overburden of the coal mine Prosper-Haniel. In the north, the heap Schöttelheide joins. Wikipedia
