The Belido Fish Monument at Sungai Musi was completed in September 2017 and is a new landmark of Palembang.
The Belido (Chitala lopis) is a fish species commonly known as the Indian knifefish or Indian featherfin fish. It is widespread in Sungai Musi and holds special significance for Palembang. Belido is the main ingredient in popular Palembang dishes such as kemplang fish chips and pempek, a fish cake served with a spicy, sweet and sour sauce.
The monument was erected as part of PT Bukit Asam's Corporate Social Responsibility program.
