Cannero Riviera is a municipality on Lake Maggiore in the Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola on the edge of Piedmont. The place is built on the alluvial cone of the river Rio di Cannero. Cannero Riviera is preceded by two islets, the Castelli di Cannero. The municipality is exactly south-facing and lies on the delta of the Rio Cannero. The thus prevailing particularly mild climate and the tropical flora and fauna provided for the nickname "Riviera". The vegetation is unusual for its northern Italian location: lemons, oranges, olives, mimosas, bougainvilleas and even bananas thrive here.
