The bizarre rock formations of Tsingy Rouge are located about 50 km south of Antsiranana, also known as Diego Suarez. These natural wonders were only exposed by landslides in the mid-20th century. The sandstone pinnacles, reaching up to 10 meters in height, are constantly being eroded and reshaped by rainwater. After heavy rainfall, new formations are always revealed, while the older rocks also become smaller.
