Kingsmere River Trail is also a narrow-gauge rail-portage line. This trail along the Kingsmere River was historically used to move canoes and boats around the rapids, using a small rail cart. A more modern cart is still in use today. Secure canoes properly and use the handbrake. It's heavy and not designed for people to ride on, it's only for moving boats. After the Kingsmere River Trail crosses the Kingsmere River via a bridge and heads north, the rail-portage begins and leads to Southend Campground.
