    Hiking

In Vietnam's delta, the Mekong River splits into nine main branches and countless smaller channels, which is why the area is also known as the "River of Nine Dragons" and forms a vast, fertile oasis, considered Vietnam's "rice bowl". These main branches further divide and eventually flow into the South China Sea, making the region so rich in water.

The Mekong Delta is Vietnam's rice bowl – more than half of the country's total rice production is harvested here in three harvests per year. Fruits, vegetables, coconuts, and sugarcane are also cultivated, and there are orchid plantations and fish farms. Alongside agricultural land, mangrove swamps and lush tropical vegetation with palm trees, abundant greenery, and colorful flowers dominate the landscape. The flooded area varies depending on the season and rainfall; overall, the Mekong Delta grows by approximately 80 meters each year due to sediment deposition.
