The Safdarjung Mausoleum in Delhi, India, is the tomb of Mirza Muqim Abul Mansur Khan (1708–1754), who was born in Persia and emigrated to India in 1722. He inherited the governorship of the fertile region of Avadh (also Oudh) in northern India (main towns: Faizabad and Lucknow) from his uncle and father-in-law. Later, under the relatively weak and insignificant Mughal emperors Muhammad Shah (r. 1719–1748) and Ahmad Shah (r. 1748–1754), he received the honorary title of Safdarjung as well as other governorships.
