During archaeological excavations as part of the expansion of the A20 federal highway in 2012/13, remains of settlements from the Bronze Age and the pre-Roman Iron Age were found in the Todesfelde area, including a burial ground with 150 cremation graves from the Bronze Age. The main find was the Todesfelde urn, which is dated to 500 BC.
