The building has an eventful history: Built as a market hall in 1576, the building became a church after the appropriate conversion: from 1631 for the Reformed, after 1700 for both denominations, from 1786 to 1931 for the Catholics. The building has been Hornbach's town hall since 1948, and the town council meets in its stylish council chamber.
