Hiking
Against the background of the Bismarck cult, around 500 Bismarck monuments in the form of towers, statues, busts and columns were erected in the German Reich to commemorate the former Chancellor Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898), as is the case here in Zweibrücken.
This statue was inaugurated here on Herzogplatz in 1896.
He was a hero back then, but today, like so many others, he is unfortunately viewed more critically. However, his merits for Germany remain undisputed.
This bronze statue by Wilhelm Albermann from Cologne commemorates him so that his important work and influence is not forgotten.

The sculpture depicts Otto von Bismarck in a dignified pose, dressed in the traditional clothing of his time. With a serious expression and a powerful appearance, the statue embodies the strength and determination of this important political leader of the 19th century.
The decision to erect a monument to Bismarck in Zweibrücken reflects the esteem he enjoyed in this region as well. Bismarck was a central figure in German history, known for his role in the unification of Germany in 1871 and for his political strategies that have shaped modern Germany.
